Lakelands Hockey and Sporting Facility

Artwork design has been inspired by a magpie nest as this new sporting facility is home to the ‘Magpies’ hockey club. The artwork’s linear qualities also reference trajectories of balls, the motion of players on the field and boundary lines. Circular shapes are back-lit at night with choreographed coloured lighting to imply movement and game playing. Lighting has been programmed to be dynamic, playful and on-the-move. The circular movement of lights as colours transfer between circles alludes to the passing of the ball between players, game strategy and training drills. Lighting designed, programmed, assembled and installed by Midnight Tuesday.
