East Village Shelter (Knutsford St, Fremantle)

Commissioned by Landcorp, this free-standing sculptural sun shelter uses linear design elements that transition from straight and static metal slats to undulating and energetic ‘streamers’ to reference wind movement, water ripples and corrugations. At night environmentally responsive lighting has been designed by the artist team to be interactive with the sun, wind, ambient daytime temperature and nearby movement of people. 

Artists worked alongside Josh Byrne & Associates to design and integrate the artwork with the surrounding landscaping.  Artwork installed by the Midnight Tuesday team.
